The lions had a run-in with a herd of buffalo two weeks ago and the buffalo have returned with a vengeance. Although the whole pride are there to defend them, the cubs panic and head into the open. One of the buffalo is on to them in a flash - beating his head on the ground in an attempt to kill the cubs. Jonathan is upset. "I've never seen anything like this in my life and having watched this group with these tiny cubs, it's incredibly distressing. The lionesses are moving around calling, calling, calling, desperately looking for their little cubs, but the way those buffalo were just hammering into the grass, I'd be amazed if there are not some dead cubs around here."
